StarStruck by Yoshi Horiguchi

I wrote this work for my wife when she and I spent our honeymoon in Hawaii looking up at the stars. It was then that I understood why the Milky Way had its name.

This concerto is the first work by Andrés Martín that I discovered. When I heard it, I immediately felt the urge to learn it (and other works by him) and add it to my repertoire!

This is the mysteriously lyrical 2nd movement of Andrés Martín’s double bass concerto.

I first heard played this tune when I was 14 years old in all-county Jazz band. A few years later, I played it for solo bass. Then I the country for a few years performing a trio arrangement of it. Then I got my hands on a loop pedal…

A little fun at the end of my solo set at Classical Revolution x Baltimore Boom Bap Society

Not everyone can walk and chew gum at the same time… but talking about playing bass? Easy peasy.
